Full Job Description Our Organization:

The Cardinal Shehan Center is a non-profit organization located in Bridgeport, CT. For 60 years, the Center has served the recreational, educational, and social needs of moderate and low-income families and young people of lower Fairfield County, particularly inner-city Bridgeport. Our mission is enriching lives through learning . This is accomplished by offering an After School & Saturday Youth Development Program, Summer Day Camp, various basketball leagues, Sign-Up Programs, Physical Education classes to grammar schools, and alternative education programs.

The Position :

We're looking for qualified Summer Day Camp Counselors ! The Counselor will primarily be responsible for the health, safety, and well-being of children in the program by providing close supervision of all activities. The Summer Day Camp runs June 15, 2026-August 14, 2026, Monday-Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. •Shifts between these times are potentially flexible based on experience and preference.

Responsibilities:

Supervise, participate in, and administer recreational activities for children. Provide a safe and fun environment for participants. Work cooperatively with professional staff, other counselors, and families. Maintain daily schedule and attendance. Guide children in their physical, social-emotional, and academic growth. Communicate with families about their children's time at camp (ie. accidents and behavior incident) through written reports. Actively participate in all training sessions, designated meetings, and special events.
