Job Description

Vernon Rehabilitation and HCC is seeking an individual to work on our Memory Care Unit. Part time hours are specifically every other weekend working 9am to 5pm. Must have experience working in a memory care unit in a recreation setting. Vernon Rehab & HCC Therapeutic Recreation Staff is a non-exempt position responsible for assisting with the implementation of a therapeutic recreation program which improves the quality of life for all residents of the facility. This position is under the supervision of the Director of Recreation Services. Education /
Experience:
Experience with Memory Care environment required. Ability to read, write and comprehend English; ability to follow oral and written instructions. Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of word processing (including Microsoft Office) and other office equipment helpful. Ability to work hours as scheduled based on the requirements of the position assignment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Plans, organizes and conducts specialized group activities designed to motivate, stimulate and improve the quality of life for facility residents. Works at resident's bedside with specially designed activities. Conducts one-on-one individualized activities and sensory stimulation for those residents who do not actively participate in group activities. (This includes those residents who were in their rooms or hall when group was being held.) Documents resident participation and progress. Assists with supply inventory, planning of purchases for the department, and organization of activities. Assists with the transportation of residents to areas where programs are being conducted. Assists with resident supervision during outings. Assists with writing, typing, and/or assembling the monthly newsletter. Conducts assessments of new admissions. Documents historical interests, hobbies, and abilities as well as current limitations, prognosis, and family expectations. Obtains information from family members when necessary. Documents in resident care plan and participated actively in resident care conferences. Completes notes and MDS in a timely manner. Participates in family- attended Care Plan conferences as requested. Implements required programs, maintains thorough records, and supports the resident's progress with activities of daily living and other restorative programs.
