Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY
Provides direct supervision and safety of an assigned group of children and/or teens in a seasonal day camp program. Responsible for providing a quality experience through planning and leading age appropriate activities consistent with the YMCA mission and core values. Responsible for the cleanliness of all used program areas.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Directly supervises a group of children and/or teens. 2. Plans and implements program activities within established Camp Program guidelines that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate, engaging and consistent with YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. 3. Makes on-going, systematic observations and evaluations of each child as directed by supervisor. 4. Adheres to program standards including safety and cleanliness standards. 5. Attends staff meetings and trainings. 6. Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies. 7. Maintains positive relations with parents and other staff. Models relationship-building skills including Listen First in all interactions. 8. Supports The Y's Healthy Eating and Physical Activity Standards (HEPA), encouraging children, adults and families to adopt a healthy lifestyle and role-models the standards. 9. Perform other related duties as assigned. 1. Minimum age requirement - 16 years of age. 2. Previous experience working with children preferably in a day camp setting. 3. Experience preferred in one or more of the following areas: outdoor living, archery, boating, camping, songs/music, skits, sports, aquatics, recreational games, etc. 4. CPR, First Aid, & AED certifications required within 30 days of employment. 5. Complete YMCA of the USA New Employee Orientation e-learning course. 6. Complete YMCA Policy and Procedures for New Employees within 30 days of employment. 7. Previous experience with diverse populations preferred. 8. DCF 45 hours
