Job Description

Position Summary We are seeking a compassionate, dependable, and energetic Activities Assistant to support the Activities Director in delivering engaging, person-centered programming for residents in our Assisted Living and Memory Care community. This role plays a key part in enhancing residents' quality of life by assisting with the planning, coordination, and execution of daily activities—particularly for individuals living with dementia. The ideal candidate is creative, patient, organized, and passionate about working with seniors. Key Responsibilities Program Support & Execution Assist in implementing a comprehensive activities program that supports residents' physical, emotional, cognitive, and social well-being Lead small group and one-on-one activities as directed, including dementia-appropriate programming Prepare activity materials, set up and break down events, and maintain activity spaces Encourage resident participation and adapt activities based on abilities and preferences Resident Engagement Build positive relationships with residents and families to promote engagement and trust Provide companionship and individualized attention, especially to memory care residents Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) as appropriate during programming Escort residents to and from activities as needed Operations & Documentation Support documentation of participation, attendance, and activity outcomes as required Maintain supplies and notify the Activities Director of inventory needs Assist with decorating and maintaining a warm, inviting community environment Team Collaboration Work closely with the Activities Director, care staff, and interdisciplinary team to ensure coordinated, resident-centered care Support volunteers and community partners during activities Participate in team meetings and training sessions Community & Events Support Assist with special events, holiday celebrations, and outings Support community tours and marketing events as needed Required Experience working with seniors, preferably in assisted living, memory care, or healthcare Demonstrated experience or comfort working with individuals living with dementia Ability to work the scheduled shift: Tuesday-Saturday, 9:00 AM - 4:30 PM Strong interpersonal and communication skills Positive attitude, reliability, and team-oriented mindset High level of compassion, patience, and customer service Preferred Previous experience in activities programming or recreational therapy Knowledge of person-centered care approaches Creative skills (music, art, fitness, or group facilitation) Ability to engage residents with varying cognitive and physical abilities Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, sit, and climb stairs for extended periods Frequent use of hands and arms for activity setup and facilitation Ability to lift or move up to 50 pounds occasionally Adequate vision and dexterity for resident interaction and activity tasks Work Environment & Benefits Supportive, team-oriented senior living community Opportunity for growth within a larger organization Meaningful work that positively impacts residents' daily lives
