Job Description

We are looking for Summer Camp Counselors for the following areas: Port Saint Lucie & Jensen Beach, Port Saint Lucie only, Fort Pierce, and Okeechobee.
Position Summary:
The Camp Counselor is responsible for the supervision, safety, and engagement of assigned youth participants. This role supports the implementation of therapeutic and recreational programming, including structured activities, daily living skills, and group facilitation, while maintaining a safe and supportive environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Arrive on time and prepared for all scheduled camp days Supervise and ensure the safety of an assigned group of campers Facilitate therapeutic, educational, and reading group activities Model appropriate, respectful, and positive behavior at all times Support the Camp Director with daily operations and program activities Assist with chaperoning classes, physical activities, and life skills development Promote health, safety, and well-being of all participants Additional Responsibilities Communicate effectively with families and caregivers as needed Maintain strict confidentiality in accordance with organizational policies Demonstrate basic knowledge of mental health disorders and treatment approaches (preferred) Maintain awareness of psychotropic medications and their general purpose (preferred) Core Competencies Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) Ability to work independently and take initiative Emotional maturity and ability to foster positive team dynamics Sound judgment and decision-making skills Ability to remain calm and effective in high-pressure or stressful situations Commitment to continuous learning and professional development Professional Expectations Maintain a dependable and punctual work schedule Keep supervisor informed of activities, concerns, and potential issues Support the organization's mission, values, and program goals Follow all safety procedures and workplace guidelines Physical Requirements Ability to sit, stand, walk, and bend for extended periods Ability to actively participate in physical and recreational activities Ability to communicate effectively with children, families, and professionals Valid driver's license and ability to operate a vehicle Equipment Used Computer and standard office equipment (printer, scanner, copier) Agency vehicle or personal automobile (as required) Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required Associate's degree in a human services-related field preferred Preferred Qualifications Experience working with children and families, particularly in a therapeutic or behavioral setting Knowledge of state and federal regulations related to the target population Experience facilitating group activities or counseling sessions Ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively As required by section 435.12, Florida Statutes, all applicants for positions involving services to vulnerable populations must undergo mandatory background screening.
