POSITION SUMMARY
The Sports Coordinator is responsible, well-organized, and possesses the ability to assist the Senior Program Director with the sports programs to exceed the expectations of the members, program participants, and community. This individual must be able to grow and expand all programs as well as develop new program initiatives that will expand the services of the YMCA and have a greater connection into our community. Must be a team player and attend all meetings that are deemed necessary. Incumbents should be outgoing and able to interact with staff, members, program participants, volunteers, and the community in a positive way. In addition, every position in the YMCA of Coastal Georgia, Inc. is responsible for upholding the Judeo-Christian principles that are central to our mission by modeling behaviors that exemplify the four pillars of character - caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Sound working knowledge of appropriate sports as determined by season including league rules and policies. Ability to effectively communicate accurate program and sports information including rules and policies as set by the YMCA to parents and participants. Ability to foster positive staff, peers, and program participants. Ability to supervise large groups of participants. Assist in the overall retention and satisfaction of YMCA members through appropriate customer service. Assist in the Annual Campaign fundraising program for the YMCA. Maintain a positive and cheerful attitude with staff, peers, and program participants. Willingly perform other duties as assigned. This organization has zero tolerance for abuse and will not tolerate the mistreatment or abuse of consumers in its programs. Any mistreatment or abuse by an employee or volunteer will result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment or volunteer service and cooperation with law enforcement. This organization takes every allegation of abuse or misconduct seriously and will fully cooperate with the authorities to investigate all cases of alleged abuse or misconduct. Employees and volunteers shall cooperate with any external investigation by outside authorities or internal investigation conducted by the organization or persons given investigative authority by the organization. An employee or volunteer's failure to cooperate with an investigation will result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment or dismissal from the organization.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Y seeks to strengthen communities through daily commitment to youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. When you work at the Y, you take an active role in bringing about meaningful, enduring change in people's lives. The Sports Coordinator carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities may include interviewing, hiring, and training employees, planning, assigning, and direction work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
QUALIFICATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS
Minimum high school diploma required; associate degree preferred. CPR and First Aid required within 30 days of employment. Must be able to pass a criminal background check and obtain authorization to work with children under the Georgia Department of Labor and YMCA guidelines.
