Camp Counselor

Job purpose The Ford Explorer Camps are an integral part of the Naturalist's yearly programming at The Ford Field & River Club and allow kids at The Ford to experience activities in nature. Our 2026 camp dates are June 22-26. The counselor position will assist the Naturalist in preparing activities for participants, cleaning up after camp, and leading groups of participants in outdoor activities and crafts. Duties and responsibilities Assist Naturalist and ODP staff with implementing kids camp activities including (but not limited to) crafts, outdoor games, nature hikes, and wildlife encounters Help prepare and set up activities before and after scheduled camp time Transport children via golf cart to various locations around property for hikes and pool time Supervise children ages 3-12 years old during camp and pool activities Qualifications and Experience Experience working with children (preferably ages 3-12 years) Excellent customer service skills Ability to be outdoors in all types of weather conditions and biting insects Valid driver's license required Working conditions Works in an outdoors environment which has fluctuations with the local weather. Must be able to work irregular hours as required, including evenings, weekends and holidays. Physical requirements Standing, stooping, bending, pushing and pulling. Lifts 50 pounds occasionally up to 75 pounds. Vision must be correctable to read and write. Hearing must be sufficient to understand conversation on the telephone in a noisy environment. Must have hand usage to operate various equipment as required.
