Job Description

SUMMARY:
The Student Activities and Events Coordinator supports the planning, coordination, promotion, and execution of student programs, campus events, and co-curricular activities. This position serves as a key liaison between Student Life and the Marketing and Events team to support the coordination, promotion, and execution of student programs, campus events, and co-curricular activities. The role provides graduate students with hands-on experience in marketing, student engagement, event management, and leadership development while contributing to a vibrant campus community.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following: Support the implementation of student activities by executing planning, coordination, and promotional tasks identified in regular meetings with the Assistant Director of Residence Life/Director of Student Activities, in collaboration with the Marketing and Events team. Assistin planning, promoting, and executing a wide range of campus events with a focus on student activities and intramurals. Collaborate with student organizations, faculty, and staff to support event logistics and promotion messaging. Manage event-related administrative tasks such as budgeting, scheduling, reserving spaces, coordinating vendors, andfacilitatingvendoragreementsand contract arrangements as needed. Develop and implement marketing strategies for student events, including social media, email, and campus signage. Provide leadership anddirectionto studentworkers and event committees.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist the
EVENTS & COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST
with supervising and delegating tasks to student workers.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Enrollment in a graduate program at the university. Strong organizational and time-management skills with attention to detail. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment. Experience in marketing, event planning, student leadership, or campus involvement is preferred. Comfort with using technology and social media platforms for marketing purposes.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exits. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to analyze data.
WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This position has a designated workstation located in the library but requires frequent work across multiple campus locations to support event planning and execution. The role involves regular movement around campus and assisting with event setup and breakdown, including arranging chairs, tables, signage, and other event materials. The position may require standing for extended periods and occasionally lifting or moving event supplies and equipment.
