Job Description

Overview Join our vibrant team as a part time/ weekend Activities Assistant, where your enthusiasm and creativity will bring joy and engagement to our residents. In this vital role, you will plan, coordinate, and facilitate a variety of recreational activities tailored to enhance the well-being and quality of life for seniors, including those with memory impairments such as Alzheimer's and dementia. Your energy and compassion will foster a lively, inclusive environment that promotes social interaction, mental stimulation, and emotional support. Duties Develop and implement engaging activity programs that cater to diverse interests and abilities of residents, emphasizing fun, socialization, and therapeutic benefits Assist in organizing special events, outings, and themed activities that encourage community participation and enrich residents' daily experiences Support residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including mobility assistance, dressing, and personal care when needed Collaborate with nursing staff and caregivers to identify individual needs related to memory care, dementia, or other health issues to tailor activities accordingly Maintain accurate records of resident participation in activities and document observations related to residents' engagement levels and well-being Manage activity supplies, equipment, and materials ensuring a safe and organized environment for all participants Provide emotional support and companionship to residents during activities, fostering a warm and welcoming atmosphere Skills Proven experience in event planning, recreational therapy, or senior care environments such as assisted living or nursing homes Strong knowledge of Alzheimer's care, dementia care, memory care strategies, and aging issues counseling Excellent communication skills to effectively engage with residents, families, staff, and community partners Ability to assist residents with ADLs and adapt activities for individuals with disabilities or cognitive impairments Skilled in schedule management to coordinate multiple activities seamlessly throughout the day Compassionate caregiving approach with a focus on enhancing residents' quality of life through social work principles Familiarity with long-term care practices, home & community care experience preferred This position will also be trained for reception duties when reception is not working, and also will be the transportation for residents who have appointments using our transport bus. Pay:
$16.00 - $19.00 per hour
