STATION HEAD JOB DESCRIPTION
  • BASEBALL/SOFTBALL Hi-Five Station Heads represent Hi-Five Sports Camp in their respective sport of expertise. Camp is broken down into stations
  • each one a sport (soccer, baseball, basketball, lacrosse, flag football, hockey, etc.). Your job is to oversee running the station of your sport
  • leading the games and skill-development aspects.
Counselors (aka "coaches") will bring their groups (aka "teams") to your station and you will oversee making sure coaches assist you in leading the station and campers in the scheduled activity. You are the authority figure at your station. You will work directly with the Camp Directors to ensure the stations run properly and campers are learning new skills while having fun. Most of the time you will be running games and competitions, and your job will be to referee, umpire, and ensure the games are fair, don't get out of control, and campers have fun while being good sports. If coaches get out of line it is your job to take them aside or get a director to step in. You will also oversee rewarding sportsmanship points and keeping track of scores to give hand in to the camp director each day. During times when there are no games at your station, you will be asked to do other tasks around camp.

Creative Knowledgable Engaging Problem-solver Flexible Loves kids Takes initiative Trustworthy Qualifications Documented experience in field sports instruction or documented training and experience in the variety of sports the program offers Previous experience working at a summer camp is a plus Ability to communicate and work with groups participating and provide necessary instruction to participants and staff. Athletic, team or individual-sport background Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to the activity Experience working in camp setting with children (preferable) Physical ability to participate in activities, run, swim, lift, or support the weight of children Ability to pass a background check, a physical, and proof of immunizations Upbeat, positive and engaging personality Strong work ethic; proactive, responsible and accountable by nature Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills Experience in setting up, securing, and maintaining field sports equipment Essential Job Functions Be on time to camp each and every day. Show up every day with an upbeat, energetic and fun attitude. Dress up and participate in all Hi-Five Theme Days. Assist the Activities Coordinator in planning the activities for sport-specific week that you are leading. Submit daily points in a timely fashion. Set a good example for participants and counselors by following general camp procedures and practices, including sanitation, schedule, and sportsmanship. Assist with end-of-day camp dismissal procedures to help run smoothly. Develop and deliver a sports program that is appropriate for the age and ability of the program. Write lesson plans that meet program outcomes and the abilities of the program participants. Participate as a member of the program staff team to deliver and supervise programs, special events, and other all-program activities and program functions, regardless of whether it is related to your primary sport station or not.
