Job Description

We are seeking an energetic, organized, and customer-focused Recreation Supervisor to lead a diverse portfolio of programs and create meaningful experiences for our community. Job Summary:
Under the direction and supervision of the Assistant Director of Recreation and Facilities, the Recreation Supervisor is responsible for planning, coordinating, and evaluating contractual programs in general enrichment, dance and theatre, and sports. The role also supports basketball programming and oversees contractual sports camps during the summer season.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Recreation, Sports Management, or a related field preferred 2+ years of experience in recreation programming, athletics, or a related field Experience working with independent contractors or instructors preferred Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Ability to manage multiple programs and priorities in a fast-paced environment Proficiency with recreation software systems is a plus A valid Illinois driver's license is required. CPR/AED First Aid Certification is required. Must always be accessible in person or by phone/electronic communications device, except during excused absences. All employees must pass a criminal background check, physical exam, and drug test, which the Glencoe Park District will cover.
Required Knowledge:
Thorough understanding of the philosophy and principles of public recreation, with the ability to effectively communicate these concepts to others. Demonstrated experience in recreation programming and facility rental coordination. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel for a variety of administrative and operational purposes. Working knowledge of RecTrac for program and facility management.
Required Skills:
Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally and collaboratively with coworkers, contractors, and the general public. Ability to establish priorities, manage time effectively, and coordinate multiple ongoing projects simultaneously. Proven ability to work efficiently under deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in typing and familiarity with computers, email, and general office technology.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Plan, coordinate, and evaluate a variety of contractual programs, including enrichment, dance/theatre, and sports Serve as the primary contact for program instructors and partners, including onboarding, scheduling, communication, and ongoing support Support basketball programming, including house league operations and a small travel component Oversee contractual sports camps during the summer season, including coordination with vendors, scheduling, and on-site support Monitor program participation, customer feedback, and overall performance to identify opportunities for growth and improvement Assist with program setup, registration, and communication through recreation software systems Support the development of seasonal program offerings, including brochure content and marketing coordination Provide responsive, professional customer service and resolve participant concerns as needed Collaborate with internal staff to coordinate facility use, schedules, and program logistics
Hours:
Regular scheduled hours for this position are Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM-5 PM. Due to the varying nature of park district programming, early morning, evening, weekend, and some holiday hours are to be expected.
Pay Scale:
This is a Full-Time, non-exempt/exempt position. The intended starting annual pay for this position is $55,307-$60,000, with a full pay scale ranging from $55,307 to $80,195 per year. Final compensation will be determined in good faith based on an evaluation of the candidate's qualifications, experience, and the recommendation of the Assistant Director of Recreation and Facilities or the Executive Director.
