04/17/2026 About this opportunity: Ball State University is seeking camp counselors for the Indiana Youth Programs Camps on Campus for the Summer 2026. Compensation will be assigned based on areas of responsibilities. What you'll do and what you'll bring:
Position Description:
This position will supervise high school students attending overnight summer camp programming.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Remain onsite and available throughout assigned shifts, including overnight stays, to provide continuous supervision and immediate response to camper needs. Enforce camp rules, safety procedures, and behavioral expectations to maintain a secure and supportive environment for all campers. Respond promptly and effectively to emergencies, incidents, or conflicts, following camp emergency protocols and reporting procedures. Lead and assist with daily camp activities such as games, educational programs, recreational events, meals, and group discussions. Serve as a positive role model by demonstrating professionalism, responsibility, teamwork, and appropriate behavior.
Minimum Qualifications:
18 years of age or older by date of appointment. High school degree or GED. High energy, patient, and positive attitude. Ability to obtain CPR/First Aid certification. Previous experience working with students (ages 5-17). Must be available on dates of the camp session for day and overnight.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience as a camp counselor. Previous experience leading groups of students (ages 5-17) in recreational or educational settings. Experience with overnight student supervision. Experience working with students during camp events.
