PURPOSEOF POSITION
The purpose of this position is to assist in the planning, coordination, implementation, and supervision of recreational activities/programs in a recreation center. Duties and responsibilities include assisting in the supervision and instruction of youth and adult participants, volunteers, and part-time and seasonal employees; assisting in the operation of center programs; and managing related paperwork and reports.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned. ∙Plans, organizes, and leads recreational activities such as sports events, games, or contests in a recreation center; coordinates game schedules. ∙Supervises and provides orientation for part-time employees, summer youth employees, and volunteers; plans and coordinates schedules for facility employees, assists with training, and maintains record of hours of service for volunteers. ∙Serves as coordinator for various community, civic, and volunteer children's groups; assists in coordinating and conducting special events. ∙Supervises participants of recreational activities to ensure compliance with departmental safety regulations. ∙Acts as an official or judge for various activities or arranges for the presence of officials; may coach one or more activities, and may become an active participant while coaching. ∙Maintains attendance and activity reports; prepares periodic and special reports; assists with budget preparation; and assists in long range planning for facility improvement and development. ∙Inspects recreation facilities and equipment for cleanliness, safety, and condition, and recommends maintenance and repair work as necessary. Maintains equipment inventory. ∙Attends staff meetings to exchange information; attends professional classes or seminars to improve professional skills.COMMUNITY CENTER COORDINATOR - 4108

∙Maintains reports, records, and memos of updated materials, and maintains correspondence with fellow employees through e-mail. ∙Performs other related duties as required.MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
High School Diploma or GED with at least one year of experience instructing various types of recreational activities is required; at least two years of college course work in recreation, physical education or leisure preferred; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position. Must possess or be able to obtain a Commercial Driver's License and certification in CPR and First Aid.PHYSICAL AND MENTAL ABILITIES REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Ability to compare, count, differentiate, measure and sort information. Ability to advise and interpret on how to apply policies, procedures and standards to specific situations. ∙Ability to utilize advisory data and information such as financial statements, technical operating manuals, procedures, guidelines, non-routine correspondence and laws.MATHEMATICAL ABILITY

Ability to handle, load and unload, and move and guide material using simple tools. ∙Ability to coordinate eyes, hands, feet and limbs in performing skilled movements such as instructing sports or rapid keyboard use. ∙Ability to exert moderate physical stress in sedentary to light work, involving climbing and balancing. Ability to handle, finger, and feel. Ability to lift, carry, push and pull. Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl.ENVIRONMENTAL ADAPTABILITY
