Posting Details Position Information Working Title Assistant Director of Programs Department Campus Recreation Compensation Title Assistant Director, CRC Programs Position Number 30023629 Position Status Regular Work Schedule 8:30 a.m - 4:30 p.m and must be willing to work some nights and weekends. Hours per Week 37.5 Months per Year 12 Purpose of Position Reporting to the Director of Campus Recreation, the Assistant Director of Programs is responsible for overall administrative leadership of the Intramural & Sports Club program, Fitness programs, Outdoor Recreation programs, and outdoor facilities. Primary responsibilities include 1) Program Administration, 2) Facility Management, and 3) Senior Leadership Team Responsibilities Primary Responsibilities Program Administration Oversee and develop all Campus Recreation programs, including Intramural Sports, Sport Clubs, Fitness, and Outdoor Recreation. Supervise, train, and evaluate the Fitness Coordinator and Graduate Assistants; hold bi-weekly meetings to review programs and departmental issues. Lead the Intramural Sports program, including leagues, tournaments, and special events, and provide oversight for Sport Clubs, including risk management, fiscal management, travel, and policy compliance. Mentor the Sport Club Council and ensure all programs comply with departmental and university guidelines. Manage the computerized registration system (IM Leagues), provide onsite supervision for activities, and recruit, train, and evaluate game officials, scorekeepers, and intramural supervisors. Oversee program budgets, payroll, and purchases; track participation and conduct program assessments. Coordinate facility scheduling and marketing plans, including website updates and student engagement. Facility Management Develop, review, and enforce facility policies and rental procedures. Manage budgets, monitor usage, and schedule outdoor facilities (IM Field Complex, sand volleyball, basketball courts). Process contracts, insurance, and invoices; purchase and maintain equipment; track attendance; implement marketing plans; and collaborate with Marketing to achieve revenue projections. Senior Leadership Support the Director in strategic planning, personnel management, financial oversight, and departmental assessment. Foster teamwork, set unit goals, serve on university committees, represent the department at events, and build collaborative relationships with university departments, student groups, and the community. Assist with student employee training, development, and recognition programs. Qualifications Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Recreation, Sports Management, Physical Education, or a related field, with at least three years of experience in recreational sports, intramurals, athletics administration, or a similar setting. Proficient with computers, university systems, and recreation-specific software. Strong business and accounting skills, including budget tracking and reporting. Excellent written and verbal communication skills for interacting with students, officials, campus partners, and community members. Proven organizational, time-management, and multi-tasking abilities in a fast-paced collegiate environment. Experience officiating major team sports (e.g., basketball, flag football, soccer, softball) and training or supervising officials. Strong customer service orientation, collaborative mindset, and commitment to a welcoming, inclusive campus. Effective conflict resolution and problem-solving skills in programmatic or on-field situations. Ability to adapt quickly, especially during high-volume or peak-season periods.
