Job Description

Acts as a principal assistant to the Superintendent of SPAR in organizing and implementing events and programs at various city owned properties. 1. Plans, proposes and assists in implementing approved work, training, and safety programs. 2. Collects, verifies and collates fiscal data from various sections to assist in budget construction and administration. 3. Develops, initiates and/or approves budget estimates, recreation schedules, reports, program proposals, and correspondence. 4. Works in close concert with Supervisors Recreation I to insure success of Recreation Branch programs. 5. Inspects facilities and initiates and/or approves requests for equipment, materials, and supplies. 6. Interviews job applicants and counsels employees. 7. Recommends new hires, promotions, and other personnel actions. 8. Performs other duties as needed and required. 1. High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution. 2. Bachelor's Degree in recreation or related field. Bachelor's Degree may be substituted for (4) four years of experience in recreational programming. In addition, (3) three years experience in recreation or public contact work including (2) two year of supervisory experience. 3. Organizational ability to plan, formulate and execute policies and programs; verbal and numerical facility; flexibility to adjust to changing conditions; and ability to maintain harmony among workers. 4. Valid driver's license at time of hire. 5. Knowledgeable in Microsoft Word and Excel. Physical Requirements. 1. Work is primarily performed in an office environment while sitting at a desk or computer terminal for varied periods of time or while standing for varied periods of time. 2. Constant use of both hands in reaching / handling / grasping / fingering while performing duties and operating computers. 3. Occasional heavy work includes lifting, carrying or moving up to 50 pounds. 4. Occasionally ascends / descends stairs and other inclines while maintaining balance. Occasional bending, twisting at knees, waist and neck. 5. Constant use of all senses including feeling, talking, hearing, seeing while performing duties and communicating with co-workers, general public and completing all tasks as assigned. 6. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the duties listed above. Work Environment. 1. May be exposed to heat, dust and climate factors.
Travel:
Travel will be required locally from location to location to accomplish job assignments and visit job sites.
