Jobs › Amherst, MA › Summer Sports Program Counselor Town of Amherst Summer Sports Program Counselor Amherst, MA Apply AMHERST Summer Sports Program Counselor Assists in the coordination, implementation, supervision, and instruction of assigned sports program and general fitness activities for area youth.
GENERAL DUTIES
Assists the Sports Program Instructor with the coordination and implementation of an assigned Summer Sports Program (e.g., soccer, basketball, baseball, or volleyball) and general fitness activities; Assists in the supervision and skill instruction of participating youth. Serves as a role model for participants; Actively promotes teamwork, sportsmanship, respect, active participation, inclusion, and positive behavior among youth. Helps to ensure a safe playing environment and responds appropriately to incidents. Promptly notifies the Program Instructor of any concerns or problems. Attends sports programs and assists in the setup and breakdown of sports equipment and activity areas. Communicates program-related information to participants, parents, and fellow staff, as needed, in a respectful and appropriate manner; Responds to inquires as appropriate. Participates in staff training and meetings. Performs related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Fourteen (14) years of age or older and enrolled in high school, OR enrolled in college with a passion for sports and working with youth Two (2) or more years\' experience participating in sports Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills Ability to maintain confidentiality Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions Ability to pass the Criminal Offender Registry Information (CORI) / Sex Offender Registry Information (SORI) and Juvenile background checks.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Background in athletics, physical education, coaching, or related field Experience working with children or in a sports setting Two (2) or more years\' experience participating in assigned sport Active Filters Summer Sports Program Counselor Amherst, MA Clear All Apply
