Job Description

85007BR Patient Services-Physical Therapy Job Posting Description We are looking for enthusiastic camp counselors for our adaptive summer camps which run from August 7th-August 18th. Week one will be an adaptive sports camp that will include baseball (batting, catching, throwing) and basketball (shooting, passing, dribbling, etc.). The second week will be an AAC (augmentative and alternative communication) camp (i.e., assisting children to use their AAC device to communicate with others and participate in activities). Counselors will provide physical assistance for children who require help to maintain their balance while standing and walking. Counselors will also provide verbal, gestural, and/or tactile cues and encouragement to assist the child attending to, follow directions, and participate during the group activities. Counselors will attend an HR Orientation (via Zoom) and a training session prior to the start of the program. Counselors will assist with setting up and putting away materials and/or sports equipment daily. They will seek assistance from the camp director, activity leaders, speech-language pathologists, or therapists running the group activities about ways to adapt tasks for the children they work with or for suggestions on how to best support the child they are assigned. Camp sessions run daily from 9-12pm and 1-4pm. Hours are flexible based on availability!
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Attend an orientation and training session prior to the start of camp. Greet children and their parents at the beginning of each session and release children to their parents/guardians at the end of each session. Provide physical assistance for children who require help to maintain their balance while standing, walking, and transferring. Provide verbal, gestural, and/or tactile cues and modeling as needed, as well as encouragement to assist children in paying attention to, following directions throughout, and participating during activities. Instruct children on program activities using demonstration and verbal cues. Assist children in adhering to safety rules while playing sports (e.g. safe batting radius). Assist with the setup and clean-up of materials, sports equipment, as well as preparation of materials for the next day. Work closely with camp director, class leaders, therapists, and speech-language pathologists running the group activities to determine ways to adapt tasks for the children.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Excellent Customer Service skills. Must be a Team Player Must be detail oriented and have the strong ability to multi-task. Must be able to successfully prioritize and manage a stressful, fast-paced environment.
