Activities Assistant - Full-Time - Dementia Unit

Activities Assistant - Life Enrichment A Faith-Based, Nonprofit, 303-bed, Short and Long-term care facility sponsored by the Carmelite Sisters. We are seeking to fill the position of Activities Assistant - Life Enrichment for the Specialty Dementia Unit . 30 hours per week. $17 to $19.74 per hour based on experience.

Activities Assistant Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent. Knowledge of arts and crafts, preferably in a geriatric setting. Activities Assistant Certification or willingness to be certified (at St. Patrick's Manor expense) within 6 months. Computer literate with training on entering resident care plan codes (MDS), preferred. Must be able to speak, write and understand English.

Activities Assistant Working Conditions:

Bending, standing, sitting, lifting, walking and moving intermittently during working hours. Must assist in the evacuation of residents as necessary. May need to lift serving trays of up to 30 pounds. Activities Assistant -

Life Enrichment Job Summary:

Assist in planning, organizing and implementing the activities programs of the facility. Interview residents or family members to obtain activity information. Assist the Activity Director with preliminary and comprehensive assessments of the activity needs of each resident. Review and report on resident assessments. Develop and maintain a good rapport with all the services involved with the care plan. Encourage social communication among residents through group activities and recreation. Encourage residents to participate in hobbies and crafts; provide materials as necessary. Assists in the transportation of residents to activities.
