Job Description
Summer is calling! Are you ready to spend your summer leading a group of campers on a journey filled with amazing learning experiences, laughter, and lifelong memories? If you are up for the challenge, we want you to join our team as a Program Counselor! GSEMA has multiple day camp openings for a Program Counselor at Camp Wind-in-the-Pines (WIP) Day Camp located in Plymouth, MA. We are looking for individuals who are energetic and have a passion for working with youth. Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts (GSEMA) offers invaluable skill-building, leadership, training, and enrichment opportunities that can't be found anywhere else. So, whether you're an experienced camp counselor or just looking to gain new experiences, we welcome you to apply. Hours and Work Environment Camp Dates are June 28 - August 15, 2026. Camp runs Monday - Friday and staff will have 40-hour work weeks. The camp season includes 1 week of training.
Pay Rate:
Starting at $15.00 per hour. What are some of the perks of working at camp? Paid pre-camp training and professional development. Dependent upon the role, opportunities to receive FREE certifications (lifeguarding, archery, First Aid/CPR, etc.). Networking opportunities and a chance to work with other staff from around the world. Free transportation from select bus stop locations.A PROGRAM COUNSELOR
will: Plan, implement, and adapt age‑appropriate camp activities in collaboration with camp staff and campers, supporting Girl Scout program goals, camper development, skill progression, interests, abilities, comfort levels, and safety needs. Ensure camper voice and participation by listening to camper ideas, encouraging shared planning, and fostering personal growth, confidence, and respect for themselves and others. Get to know each camper in the group, encourage their personal growth at camp, and help them respect the rights of others and themselves. Become familiar with the natural resources of the camp area and share with the group what is available to them. Supervise, mentor, and engage campers in a nurturing, positive environment while taking responsibility for the physical, emotional, and social health and safety of all campers. Serve as a positive role model by demonstrating professionalism, inclusivity, cleanliness, punctuality, teamwork, active participation, and respect for people, property, facilities, and equipment. Commit to our mission of building girls of courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better place. Is this you? At least 18 years of age or just graduating from High School by June 15, 2026 Desire and ability to work with children outdoors. Ability to assist in teaching an activity. Enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience, self-control. Ability to work within the camp environment (Work may be indoors or outdoors and may be hot, humid, rainy or cool weather.) Ability to be an effective member of the staff team. Ability to effectively identify, analyze and solve practical problems and successfully manage a variety of variables and personalities; ability to adapt in a changing environment. Other Requirements This position will require successful completion of background checks and an active membership in the Girl Scout Movement. Camp Wind-in-the-Pines Day Camp in Plymouth, MA Camp Wind-in-the-Pines offers campers entering kindergarten through 12th grade the life-changing experience of summer camp. Located in Plymouth, MA, the camp offers over 140 acres of woodland to explore and a spectacular waterfront. In addition to traditional camp activities such as songs, games and campfires, campers can participate in activities in arts and crafts, swimming, boating, science exploration, day trips, and more!TO APPLY
