Job Description

Summer Day Camp Counselor Brewer Parks and Recreation Department 318 Wilson Street Brewer, Maine 04412  Camp Crazy Daze (entering grade 4 - 6)  Camp Caper (entering grade 1 - 3) The Summer Day Camp Counselor will lead, support, and motivate campers as they enjoy the many activities summer camp has to offer. This position is for one week prior to the start of camp for training and planning, eight weeks of camp, with additional hours available post camp for wrap up work and cleaning.
Responsibilities include:
 Planning and leading weekly activities.  Taking responsibility for a group of children during activities and as they move from one location to another while maintaining discipline and safety.  Maintain proper activity records, assist with incident and accident reports.  Work closely with other camp staff to plan and coordinate camp events.  Monitor campers and address discipline issues in a timely manner.  Monitor campers to ensure compliance with camp rules and to prevent accidents. Report and record details of incidents, (behavioral or accidents), to the Camp Director.  Be knowledgeable of all emergency procedures and enforcing camp rules.  Participate in staff meetings and training.  Support the Brewer Parks and Recreation Department's policies regarding pool use, staff policies, and public relations
Requirements:
 Upbeat, engaging personality.  Ability to relate to children and adults in a positive manner.  Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.  Well-developed sense of humor, play, and curiosity.  Experience working with children in a camp or day care setting is preferred, but not required.  Ability to participate in, and lead, a variety of gym activities, outdoor activities, crafts, and various other programs and special events as offered throughout the summer.  High level of responsibility and accountability.  First Aid, CPR, AED certified, or the ability to obtain.  Pass a criminal background check and drug screening.
Pay:
$15.50 - $16.50 per hour
