Job Summary Under the direction of the Camp Director and Assistant Camp Director Camp G. Peirce Webber day camp counselors are responsible for supporting the day-to-day programing including camper supervisionand program planning at in an engaging outdoor environment. Camp counselors should be great communicators with children and adults and understands that our day camp programs are a critically important, mission-driven program that is key to helping school-age children succeed in life. Camp counselors should be energetic, reliable, and passionate about working with children ages 4 to 16. Camp counselors are expected to be confident in leading groups of children, and assisting program directors in facilitating and supporting all camp programs. A counselor is a role model for the YMCA's core values of honesty, respect, caring and responsibility. Responsibilities Supervise and engage children in a variety of camp activities, including sports, arts and crafts, theater, and outdoor games Maintain a safe environment by monitoring camper behavior and implementing behavior management strategies Assist with daily camp routines such as mealtime supervision, rest periods, and transitions between activities Provide first aid when necessary and respond promptly to any emergencies or health concerns Foster inclusive participation by working with children of diverse backgrounds and abilities, including those in special education programs Collaborate with fellow staff members to plan, organize, and execute camp events that promote childhood development and teamwork This role is ideal for energetic individuals eager to make a difference in young lives while gaining valuable experience in childcare and youth leadership.
