Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY
Muskegon YMCA is looking for motivated and energetic individuals who are passionate about helping run an engaging Day Camp program. Day Camp Counselors are responsible for the safety, wellness and happiness of campers while delivering fun and educational program activities. Day Campers are on site at McGraft Park Monday - Friday from 8:30am - 5:30pm June to August. Day Camp Staff rotate duties for pre and post-care. Counselors will be overseen by the onsite Day Camp Coordinators and the larger Muskegon YMCA staff.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must have a sincere and genuine interest in working with youth and relate well to all age levels and backgrounds. 17 years of age or older High School Diploma or equivalent required Ability to plan, initiate and lead small and large group activities Must possess a cooperative spirit and be committed to character development by promoting and demonstrating caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility to campers, staff, and program participants. Prior experience with youth or family programming or child care.
Certifications:
CPR, First Aid & AED YMCA lifeguard certified preferred (not required) One year of college completed preferred
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Supervises a group of children. Provide a safe environment for children Plans and implements program activities that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate, and consistent with YMCA values. Dedication to job, camp participants, and the YMCA cause. Adheres to program standards, including safety and cleanliness standards. Attends staff meetings and training. Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention, and emergencies. Cultivates positive relationships and maintains effective communication. Performs other duties as assigned. Have fun!

$14.00 - $15.00 per hour
