Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Activities Assistant to join our team and enhance the quality of life for our residents. In this role, you will design, coordinate, and facilitate engaging recreational activities tailored to the interests and needs of seniors, including those with memory impairments such as Alzheimer's disease and dementia. Your enthusiasm and dedication will create a lively, supportive environment that promotes socialization, mental stimulation, and overall well-being. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of older adults through creative programming and compassionate care. Duties Plan, organize, and lead a variety of recreational activities that cater to residents' interests, abilities, and health conditions, including memory care programs. Assist residents with daily activities (Activities of Daily Living - ADLs) such as mobility, dressing, and personal hygiene to foster independence and comfort. Collaborate with nursing staff and caregivers to develop personalized activity plans that support residents' cognitive and emotional needs. Manage activity schedules efficiently to ensure timely and consistent delivery of programs while accommodating individual preferences. Provide companionship and social engagement opportunities that promote community involvement and reduce feelings of isolation. Monitor residents' responses during activities, noting any changes or concerns related to health or behavior for reporting to the care team. Maintain accurate records of participation, progress notes, and activity outcomes to support ongoing care planning. Qualifications Proven experience in event planning or recreational therapy within assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or long-term care settings. Prior experience working with seniors or individuals with disabilities, especially those requiring memory or dementia care. Strong understanding of Alzheimer's disease, dementia, memory care strategies, and aging issues counseling. Excellent communication skills with the ability to connect empathetically with residents from diverse backgrounds. Ability to assist residents with ADLs safely while encouraging independence whenever possible. Skilled in schedule management to coordinate multiple activities efficiently throughout each day. Knowledge of caregiving principles related to senior care, home & community care experience preferred.
