Job Description
Job Summary The Activity Assistant plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for residents in long-term care settings, including assisted living and nursing homes. This position involves planning, organizing, and implementing engaging activities tailored to the needs and interests of seniors, particularly those with dementia or memory care requirements. The Activity Assistant will work closely with residents to promote social interaction, cognitive stimulation, and overall well-being. Responsibilities Develop and implement a diverse range of activities that cater to the interests and abilities of residents. Facilitate group activities such as games, arts and crafts, music sessions, and physical exercises. Provide one-on-one support to residents who may require assistance with daily living activities (ADLs). Collaborate with nursing staff and social workers to ensure activities align with individual care plans. Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff to foster a supportive environment. Document participation and progress of residents in activities for care assessments. Assist in creating a safe and welcoming atmosphere for all participants. Experience Previous experience in social work, caregiving, or senior care is preferred. Familiarity with dementia care practices and memory care programs is highly desirable. Strong communication skills to effectively interact with seniors and their families. Experience working in long-term care facilities such as nursing homes or assisted living environments is an advantage. A compassionate attitude towards elderly individuals and a commitment to enhancing their quality of life.
