Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Activity Assistant to join our team in providing engaging and meaningful activities for residents in our assisted living and memory care communities. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with seniors and a strong understanding of aging issues, dementia care, and recreational therapy. This role is essential in enhancing the quality of life for our residents through creative event planning and supportive interaction. Duties Assist in the planning, organizing, and implementing of recreational activities tailored to the interests and abilities of residents. Facilitate group activities that promote social interaction, cognitive stimulation, and physical engagement. Provide support during events, ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment for all participants. Communicate effectively with residents, their families, and other staff members to understand individual needs and preferences. Document participation and feedback from residents to help improve future programming. Collaborate with caregiving staff to ensure that all activities align with the care plans of residents, particularly those requiring memory care support. Assist in one-on-one interactions with residents who may prefer personalized engagement or require additional assistance. Qualifications Experience or education in senior care, recreational therapy, or related fields is preferred but not required. Strong communication skills to effectively engage with seniors and their families. Knowledge or experience in dementia care and aging issues counseling is a plus. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while also being self-motivated. Creative thinking skills for event planning and activity development that cater to diverse resident needs.
