Overview:

Discovery Trails Day Camp is seeking enthusiastic and responsible individuals to join our team as Summer Camp Counselors. As a counselor, you will play a pivotal role in creating a fun and safe environment for children to explore, learn, and grow during their summer break. Campers are aged 1st through 5th grade. Our camps go on two field trips per week, so the ability to transport campers to and from various activities and field trips using company or personal vehicle is required.

Responsibilities:

1. Supervise and engage campers during daily activities, including games, crafts, sports, and nature exploration. 2. Ensure the safety and well-being of campers at all times, following camp policies and procedures. 3. Foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere where campers feel comfortable and supported. 4. Drive campers to off-site locations using camp-provided vehicles, following all traffic laws and safety guidelines. 5. Communicate effectively with campers, parents, and fellow staff members to provide updates, address concerns, and coordinate schedules. 6. Serve as a positive role model for campers, demonstrating leadership, patience, and respect in all interactions.

Qualifications:

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Previous experience working with children in a camp, childcare, or recreational setting preferred. Classroom teachers are highly desired.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and adaptability in various situations.
• CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain before camp begins).
• Enthusiasm for outdoor activities, nature education, and experiential learning.
• Ability to follow lesson plans and execute activities.

• Flexibility :

  You're welcome to pick and choose the weeks you'd like to work, but we do require counselors to commit to full weeks (Monday-Friday) to maintain consistency for the kids.
