Job Description
The Town of Knightdale is seeking an Athletic Supervisor to oversee daily athletic operations, support coaches and participants, and help create a positive and safe environment for all programs and events. This position is responsible for supervising recreational and competitive activities, coordinating schedules, monitoring facilities, enforcing policies and safety standards, and delivering exceptional customer service to athletes, parents, and community members. Evening and weekend availability may be required based on program schedules. Under general supervision, plans, coordinates, supervises, and implements major phases of the athletics program; performs related work as required. This position is classified as non-exempt and is subject to the Fair Labor Standards Act overtime regulations. Plans, organizes and directs a diversified program of athletic events, sports, games, tournaments and related activities. Evaluates existing programs through surveys and other assessment tools to determine the need to establish new programs. Collects fees and maintains accurate files and financial records. Provides coaches meetings and clinics to explain and demonstrate rules, equipment, safety and sportsmanship. Assists in conducting background checks on volunteer coaches who work with all athletic programs. Schedules practices and games for all leagues at the athletic facilities. Maintains program statistics including program registrations and facility usage. Coordinates the use and reservations of athletic facilities with school officials, non-profit and other user groups. Ensures proper maintenance of facilities by double checking fields or taking a report from staff. Communicates maintenance requests for athletic facilities to the Public Works Department Grounds Maintenance Division. Provides schedules of athletic programs and submits work orders for maintenance related items. Performs periodic grounds maintenance to the ball fields . Maintains accurate files and records on existing athletic programs including staff schedules. Recruits, trains and schedules limited services employees for Athletic programs. Coordinates with booking agents for the scheduling of officials. Inventories equipment for athletic programs and ensures that equipment has been properly issued, returned and stored. Prepares purchase requisitions and orders for necessary equipment, uniforms, fees and trophies for athletic programs. Ensures compliance with athletic equipment and budget accounts and assists Director with preparation of items to be budgeted for annually. Coordinates or substitutes for athletic staff that are unable to report to work. Maintains information on the Town website regarding athletic programs. Attends continuing education opportunities (i.e. conferences and workshops) Performs related duties as assigned.

: Vehicle, tractor, weed eater, calculator, computer, field rake, field lining equipment and other equipment as required.REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
This position reports to the Athletic Superintendent.WORKING CONDITIONS
Employee exposed to inside and outside environmental conditions, both hot and cold weather. Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of reaching, standing, walking, lifting, fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, and performing repetitive motions. Must be able to perform light work exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and 10 pounds constantly.JOB CONTEXT
: This position works 40 hours per week during the 7 day workweek. Weekends and overtime are necessary to fulfill job duties upon approval from the Parks and Recreation Director. The stress level of the job is low to moderate.EDUCATION
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a degree in recreation administration or other closely related degree plan.EXPERIENCE
Some experience in recreation and athletics programs; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Considerable knowledge of the principles, practices and methods of recreation and athletics. Working knowledge of a wide variety of community recreation interests, needs, and activities as related to athletics and recreation activities. Good knowledge of the principles of supervision, organization and administration. General knowledge of the rules and regulations for various athletic programs. Ability to coordinate a wide variety of specialized recreation interests and activities related to the general area of athletics. Ability to plan, direct, and coordinate the work of subordinates. Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely, orally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, coaches, the media, tournament officials, and the general public. Ability to conduct effective training programs for volunteers and staff.SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
