Activities Assistant

Description:

Assists with planning and carrying out activities for the residents and patients of the facility. Builds relationships with residents and engages them in activities that will support their overall wellbeing. This position is PRN with variable hours.

Requirements:

Maintains programs designed to make life more meaningful, to stimulate and support physical and mental capabilities to the fullest extent and to enable the resident to maintain the highest attainable social, physical and emotional functioning. Assists with bus outing activities and gets consents from residents or relatives. Assists with activities when needed. Makes room visits, holds conversations with residents, prays with them, reassures them and gives moral support where necessary. Treats residents and their families with respect and dignity. Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic and religious/spiritual needs of residents and their families. Assists with gardening activities including planting, watering, and weeding. Recognizes resident birthdays and anniversaries according to facility policy. Exhibits genuine interest in and appreciation of adults in the later years of life. High School graduate or equivalent
