Job Description

Shift 2 Evenings 3:30 - 7:30 Every Other Weekend 8:00 - 4:00 Job Summary The Activity Aide must be able to read and write in English, be of good moral character, and in good mental and physical health. Must have some background in arts, crafts, creative thinking and possess organizational ability in that field. Responsibilities Works under the direction and supervision of a Activity Aide II and III , as assigned by the Director. Organizes and directs scheduled activity programs for groups. Must also work on a one-to-one basis with some residents. Assists with planning, scheduling, and carrying out Activities functions. Invites and transports all residents to and from recreation areas in timely fashion. Assists with directing and supervising volunteers. Keeps immediate supervisor aware of departmental supplies. Assists with department housekeeping. Is receptive to and prepared to act upon suggestions and requests by other staff members. Assists with care of pets. Transports and serves residents at special meals and on unit meals as needed. Assist residents with meals once trained and completed the Paid Volunteer Feeding Assistant Program. Assists with delivery of mail and newspaper to residents. Writes and delivers weekly calendars. Daily documentation in electronic database. Is responsible and capable of working independently in the absence of the Supervisor/Director. Is willing to learn and experiment with a variety of crafts and activities. Is able to carry this knowledge to the residents when applicable. Lessens the physical and mental limitations of the residents with support and appraisal of all accomplishments and provide adaptive equipment as needed. Assists and teaches residents a variety of crafts, arts and computer use, according to needs and limitations with patience and tact. Is willing to attend In-Services and workshops to improve job performance. Participates in Committees as assigned. Other duties as may be required. Assists with talking books and music & memory programs. Requirements A high school diploma or the equivalency thereof is preferred. Must possess the desire to progress in knowledge. Must be able to work independently. Must be able to lift 45 lbs. Must be able to operate computer, tablet, cell phone, arts and crafts equipment, wheelchairs (manual & electric), walkers and other resident aids
Pay:
$16.39 - $17.91 per hour
