Position Overview We are seeking a creative, patient, and energetic Art Counselor to lead art activities for campers ages 3-12 during the month of August. This role requires someone who can adapt projects for a wide range of ages and abilities while fostering a fun, supportive, and engaging environment that encourages creativity and self-expression. Key Responsibilities Plan and lead daily art activities tailored to campers ages 3-12 Adapt projects to be age-appropriate for both younger children (preschool) and older campers Introduce a variety of art mediums (painting, drawing, crafts, sensory art, mixed media) Create a positive and inclusive environment that encourages creativity and participation Supervise campers closely, ensuring safety and engagement at all times Set up, organize, and clean up art materials and workspace daily Maintain structure while keeping activities fun and flexible Collaborate with camp staff to support overall programming and camper experience Qualifications Experience working with young children (ages 3-5) and/or elementary-aged children Background or strong interest in art, education, early childhood, or a related field Ability to manage groups with varying attention spans and developmental levels Patient, enthusiastic, and nurturing personality Strong communication and classroom/group management skills CPR/First Aid certification (preferred) Preferred Skills Experience teaching or assisting with art classes Ability to simplify instructions for younger children while engaging older campers Creativity in designing hands-on, mess-friendly, and age-appropriate activities
