SYJCC has been strengthening and enriching the Suffolk County community through social, recreational and educational programs for the past 40 years through a Jewish caring model. We are proud to help our neighbors learn, grow & thrive through programs focused on youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility .
Summary:
Under general direction from the Butler Center Director and Assistant Director, the Camp Achieve Counselor is responsible for engaging in camp-wide programming activities with campers of different ages. The Camp Achieve Counselor must demonstrate respect and sensitivity to the needs of each camper and families at all times. The Camp Achieve Counselor is responsible for participating in training workshops held prior to camp sessions. The Camp Achieve Counselor needs to ensure campers safety, and build relationships with all campers by showing compassion, empathy, and understanding.Essential Functions:
Supporting campers with special needs during all camp activities. Ability to provide support and instructions to others. Experience or education in working with people with special needs. Participate in ongoing trainings.Supervisory Responsibilities :
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full time position. Monday-Friday from 8:30-4:30Knowledge and Skills:
