In this role, you will have the opportunity to work closely with children in a fun and engaging camp environment, fostering their growth and development through a range of activities. As a Junior Summer Camp Counselor, you will help create a safe, supportive, and enjoyable atmosphere for campers while assisting in the planning and execution of daily camp programs. Responsibilities This position is for high school students who range from ages 16 to 17 years and who have obtained their work papers. Assist in supervising campers during various activities, ensuring their safety and well-being. Help plan and implement engaging educational and recreational programs that promote teamwork, creativity, and personal growth. Provide support in managing group dynamics and resolving conflicts among campers. Foster positive relationships with campers by being approachable, friendly, and supportive. Collaborate with senior counselors to maintain an organized camp environment. Participate in training sessions to enhance skills related to childhood development and behavior management. Communicate effectively with campers, parents, and staff regarding camp activities and camper progress. Skills Ideal candidates should possess the following skills: Classroom management experience to effectively oversee groups of children. Knowledge of childhood development principles to support the growth of campers. Background in early childhood education or tutoring to enhance learning experiences. Familiarity with behavior management techniques to address challenges positively. Experience in camp settings or similar environments that promote teamwork and collaboration. Interest or experience in theater or creative arts to enrich camp programming. Background in daycare or childcare settings is a plus.
