Job Description

HIRING TWO STAFF MEMBERS
:
SATURDAYS MANDATORY!
! Full Time= 8a-4p Part Time= 9a-3p, 8a-2:30p, 9a-4p, can be discussed.
Program Assistant Position Position Summary:
This position provides programmatic support and support for participants with needs in early, moderate, and later stage Alzheimer's programs as needed. Experience with the geriatric population is preferred. Leadership qualities a plus! A perfect candidate would have experience in healthcare, working with seniors, creativity for recreational activities, and able to assist with individual needs, leadership qualities, and a passion to help others. Some healthcare experience preferred, not required.
Responsibilities and Duties Main Responsibilities Program Support:
  • Assist in the provision of program activities as assigned by the lead staff of the Early, Moderate and Late Stage Programs (craft, exercise, board games, sing-a-longs, discussion groups, etc.)
  • Report any noticed changes in participants' physical and mental well-being to the lead staff of the program
Participant Support:
  • Assist participants with ADLs (Activities of Daily Living)
  • Assist participants with ambulation- with attention to fall risk prevention
  • Assist participants with toileting: including incontinence care and hygiene needs, ensuring participants wash/sanitize their hands after using restrooms, and before and after eating
  • Assist participants with feeding (unless their aide is present.)
  • Ensure participant safety by monitoring wandering behavior and monitoring program environment for potential safety risks
  • Ride LIAD Center buses as a transportation aide ensuring that participants' seat belts are fastened and that participants do not get up while buses are in transit; sit with participants that may become agitated or upset; assist participants on and off vehicle where needed; and, assist participants to and from their home, to the bus and vice versa
  • Assist in the preparation and serving of coffee, tea, and other beverages as well as lunch and snacks Additional Duties
  • Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned by your Supervisor If you have any musical talent, we would be hiring for a Day Program Staff/Music Assistant to help our Music Therapist with our Chorus Program.
