Job Description
The Student Organization Assistant works in the Office of Student Engagement to assist in the accomplishment of the goals of the department with a specific focus in the area of Student Organizations), with assistance to significant office initiatives as appropriate. The graduate intern is assigned specific responsibilities and is called upon to meet office objectives as needed. During peak times, additional hours may be required.
Career Readiness Competencies :
Communication Critical Thinking Technology Assist with student organization support initiatives: annual registration, leadership and member development/training, office/storage space allocation, budget allocation, travel registration, risk management, recruitment and retention, event planning, and assessment. Assist with the execution of major events (e.g., Campus Fest, Opening Weekend activities, Orientation presentations, Homecoming Weekend, Falcon Family Weekend, and/or Applauding Excellence). Maintain regular office hours at least four days per week and attend weekly 1:1 meetings with the direct supervisor. Attend all staff meetings and training and serve as a representative of Student Engagement on Division and University-wide committees as assigned. Assist in achieving initiatives and goals and assist with the office suite's day-to-day operations, including working collaboratively with various staff. Assist with other OCA projects as assigned. Full-time student in good standing. Graduate student - preferably in the College Student Personnel Program. Experience advising registered student organizations. Experience assisting student organizations to plan and execute events that can be large and complex in nature. Experience working with risk and harm reduction strategies.
