The Lead Camp Counselor plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of HFAC Summer Camp. This position combines leadership, organizational skills, and a commitment to safety and professionalism. Responsibilities include coordinating daily camp functions such as opening/closing duties, camper check-in/out, head counts, cleaning, and paperwork management. Leads act as the go-to team member for added responsibilities, including monitoring and supporting fellow counselors, managing schedules, and overseeing group activities. Additionally, this role involves first-responder duties in emergencies, providing excellent customer service to parents/guardians, and maintaining high workplace standards. While Leads do not handle formal disciplinary actions, they are expected to provide feedback, ensure adherence to camp protocols, and communicate with supervisors to uphold a positive, safe, and engaging camp environment. Compensation:
$18 - $20 hourlyResponsibilities:
Coordinate essential daily camp functions, including opening/closing duties, camper check-in/check-out, head counts, cleaning, and paperwork management. Act as a First Responder in emergencies, ensuring camper safety and adherence. Support and monitor fellow Camp Counselors during shifts by assigning, initiating, or overseeing group activities and active play. Maintain and enforce the camp schedule, including overseeing break schedules for counselors on shift. Provide immediate feedback to team members on professionalism, adherence to service standards, and dress codes. Communicate effectively with parents/guardians about camper behavior, safety, and procedural concerns, while looping in supervisors when follow-ups are needed. Uphold workplace morale and professionalism, sharing observations with supervisors to enhance team performance. Act as a liaison between Camp Counselors and leadership, ensuring timely communication and support for campers and staff.Qualifications:
Must have a minimum of 1 year of work experience in a professional setting, demonstrating reliability and adherence to company policies and standards. Proven ability to work effectively as part of a team, fostering collaboration and maintaining high morale. Certification in Child/Adult CPR, First Aid, and AED is required. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact confidently with children, parents, and coworkers. Experience in supervising or coordinating group activities, with a focus on safety and engagement. Creative, energetic, and adaptable, with a proactive approach to problem-solving and leadership. Demonstrated organizational skills, including managing schedules, coordinating activities, and ensuring policy adherence. Ability to act as a First Responder in emergencies, making quick and effective decisions under pressure. Professional experience as a camp counselor or providing childcare is strongly preferred, with at least 1 year of experience in such roles. Experience in sports, team activities, or leadership roles is a plus.
