Summer Camp Supervisor Holy Redeemer Catholic School - 4.0 Portland, OR Job Details Full-time $20 - $22 an hour 21 hours ago Qualifications CPR Certification Management First aid Supervising experience First Aid Certification Child supervision Activity planning for children Full Job Description About the Role We are seeking a dedicated, organized, and hands-on Summer Camp Site Supervisor to lead our elementary and preschool summer programs at Holy Redeemer Catholic School. This leadership role is essential to creating a safe, engaging, and high-quality experience for our youngest campers. The Site Supervisor serves as the primary authority on-site in the Director's absence, ensuring smooth daily operations, strong staff support, and exceptional care for children and families.
Key Responsibilities Program Leadership:
Oversee the daily operations of both the Elementary Camp and Preschool Program, ensuring activities, transitions, and routines are developmentally appropriate, organized, and engaging for each age group.
Acting Director Responsibilities:
Serve as the "Person in Charge" when the Director is off-site, confidently managing administrative decisions, emergency procedures, parent communication, and staff support.
Camp Set-Up & Closure:
Coordinate and assist with pre-camp site preparation and post-camp tear-down, including inventory management, classroom organization, and restoring facilities at the end of the season.
Staff Supervision & Mentorship:
Lead and support a team of camp counselors by providing guidance, coaching, and real-time feedback to ensure quality interactions and age-appropriate care for all campers.
Daily Operations & Logistics:
Manage the daily camp schedule, including arrival and dismissal procedures, snack and lunch rotations, activity blocks, staffing coverage, and overall program flow.
Health & Safety Oversight:
Maintain a safe environment for all children by monitoring camper welfare, enforcing safety procedures, and ensuring compliance with Department of Early Learning licensing requirements and camp policies. Schedule Requirements Commitment to all 7 weeks of summer camp programming (June 29th - Aug. 14th) Mandatory attendance during pre-camp set-up days and post-camp tear-down days Consistent 8-hour shifts during camp operations (example: 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM with a 30-minute break) Qualifications Previous experience leading or supervising summer camp, childcare, preschool, or after-school programs Strong understanding of preschool-aged child development and elementary-age group management Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to supervise staff and take initiative in a fast-paced environment Background in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Recreation Management, or a related field preferred Current CPR and First Aid Certification required Must pass the Central Background Registry (CBR) check Ability to remain active throughout the day and assist with physical camp set-up and tear-down duties Growth Opportunity This position has the potential to transition into a part-time or full-time role during the school year as an After-school Supervisor overseeing preschool and elementary aftercare programs during the school year.
Pay:
$20.00 - $22.00 per hour
