Day Camp Instructor Seasonal Part-Time Umpqua Community College | Where Summer Gets a
Little Wild Wanted:
Professional Fun-Maker! Umpqua Community College is looking for enthusiastic and creative summer Day Camp Instructors to help bring our youth summer camps to life. Camp Instructors lead engaging camps for students in grades 1-6. Instructors are responsible for creating a safe, inclusive, and fun environment through hands-on activities, games, crafts, STEM projects, outdoor recreation, and themed learning experiences. This position supervises campers, facilitates daily activities, encourages positive behavior and teamwork, and helps create memorable experiences that support creativity, curiosity, and student engagement.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Create weekly lesson plans aligned with camp themes and subject areas. Submit supply lists for camp activities and projects to the program coordinator. Create a safe, positive, and inclusive environment for all participants. Monitor camper behavior and ensure participant safety at all times. Prepare, organize, and clean up camp materials and activity spaces. Communicate professionally with campersand staff. Follow College policies, procedures, and youth program guidelines.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Ability to work effectively with elementary-aged students in a group setting. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to lead engaging and organized activities. Ability to maintain a safe and inclusive environment for youth participants. Strong teamwork, problem-solving, and time management skills. Ability to adapt activities and instruction to different age groups and abilities.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or GED equivalent. CPR/First Aid certification or ability to obtain certification. Experience working with children in educational, recreational, childcare, or youth program settings. Ability to actively participate in indoor and outdoor camp activities.
