As a vital part of our summer program, you will foster a safe, fun, and empowering atmosphere that promotes growth, independence, and community connection for every individual. Responsibilities Lead and facilitate a variety of recreational, educational, and social activities tailored to adults with disabilities, ensuring inclusivity and engagement. Provide personalized support to participants, assisting with daily routines, mobility, communication, and participation in camp activities. Maintain a safe environment by implementing behavior management strategies and adhering to health and safety protocols, including first aid procedures when necessary. Collaborate with team members to develop individualized plans that promote each participant's development and enjoyment. Foster positive relationships through active listening, encouragement, and respectful communication to build trust and confidence among campers. Support participants in developing social skills, independence, and self-esteem through structured activities and one-on-one interactions. Document daily progress, incidents, and feedback to ensure effective communication with supervisors and families. Requirements Prior experience working with children or adults with disabilities in settings such as childcare, special education, daycare, or camp environments. Knowledge of behavior management techniques and childhood development principles to support diverse needs. Certification in first aid and CPR is highly preferred; willingness to obtain certification prior to start date is required. Strong classroom management skills with the ability to adapt activities for various abilities and needs. Excellent communication skills for working with participants, families, team members, and community partners. Passion for working with individuals with disabilities and a commitment to fostering an inclusive environment. Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions while maintaining high energy levels throughout the day.
