THE POSITION
Are you ready to apply your academic and vocational counseling experience in a role that supports rehabilitation and future success for incarcerated adults? The Department of Corrections is seeking an Educational Guidance Counselor to assist students at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Camp Hill. This role allows you to help individuals explore educational opportunities, develop job skills, and work toward brighter futures. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position provides educational counseling that helps inmates build academic skills, explore career goals, and prepare for reentry. The role supports education planning, testing, and coordination with instructional staff. As an Educational Guidance Counselor, Correction Education, you will perform the following duties:
Student Orientation:
Explain educational requirements and introduce available programs to new inmates
Career Counseling:
Interview inmates to identify goals and assist with resume writing and job preparation
Testing Support:
Administer and interpret tests to recommend academic or vocational placement
Program Coordination:
Develop rosters, monitor attendance, and maintain educational records
Staff Collaboration:
Work with educational staff to support planning, progress review, and graduation events
Resource Management:

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment, 37.5-hour work week Work hours are 7:45 AM to 3:45 PM, Monday
  • Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
Two years of professional experience in educational guidance and educational counseling, and four years of paraprofessional experience in education, social work, or counseling; or Two years of professional experience in educational guidance and educational counseling, and a bachelor's degree in the social sciences, behavioral sciences, education, social work, counseling, or a closely related field; or An equivalent combination of experience and training, which includes one year of professional experience in educational guidance and educational counseling.
Other Requirements:
