Responsibilities:
Building Attendants are responsible for overseeing specific areas within the Recreation and Wellness Center, the upkeep and cleanliness of the equipment and surroundings, answering questions and assisting patrons as needed, and to assist the Building Supervisor in enacting safety protocols when required. Attendants need to be knowledgeable on the facility and its amenities and must be able to communicate effectively with all patrons. Attendants are responsible for a variety of Front Desk operations including: checking in/out equipment, handling various sales (everything except for memberships and locker rentals), answering the telephone, enforcing the policies and procedures of Gannon University and the Recreation and Wellness Center, and any additional tasks that may be assigned. Building Attendants are expected to be educated on other campus programs and events that may take place in the facility and/or around campus. This position requires high quality customer service, demonstration of leadership skills, adaptability and quick-thinking skills, the ability to take direction and be a team player.
Average Hours:
8-12 hours/week
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Oversee dedicated area (cardio deck or weight room) at designated podium. 2. Responsible for completing assigned tasks from Building Supervisor on duty. 3. Handle other assigned duties or special projects as assigned by the professional staff and/or building supervisor 4. Work special events that may take place on evenings, weekends, campus breaks, and across campus. 5. Monitor quality of equipment and report damage to Building Supervisor on duty. 6. Maintain cleanliness and organization of ALL equipment and sanitize equipment and podiums. 7. Assist as a spotter for patrons as needed and provide information on equipment upon request. 8. Assist in emergencies and first aid as necessary. 9. Required to attend all mandatory staff meeting and staff trainings. 10. Complete mandatory student development and engagement credits per semester. 11. Knowledgeable of all Gannon University and Recreation and Wellness Center policies. Must enforce and apply all policies and procedures during scheduled shift. 12. Provide a professional, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all who enter the facility. Required Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Enrolled full-time student of Gannon University preferably with a minimum of a 2.5 GPA
Experience:
Experience must include use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and use of standard office equipment such as copy machine, printer, and telephone. Previous customer service, recreation, or fitness experience preferred.
Certifications:
Certified in
CPR & AED
  • Training offered upon hire
Skills:
Leadership skills including strong verbal and written communication skills, working in a team atmosphere, and professionalism. Individual must be able to work with a diverse population that would include students, faculty, staff, alumni and community members. Must be able to work independently without direct supervision on day to day tasks and be able to take initiative.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to lift and carry weight, possibly up to 50lbs unassisted Ability to walk, stand, and move about for approximately 2-8 hours; without access to a chair Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl Ability to climb (stairs/ladders) or balance Ability to walk around building and potentially across campus Repetitive movement of hands, arms and legs, such as sweeping, vacuuming, and moping Meet the physical demands associated with a busy office and University environment.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed in a busy campus-wide setting. Some evening and weekend hours are required for activities and events which require representation from members of the Student Development and Engagement Office. Must be a team player, willing to cover or trade shifts when necessary. Must be available to work days, evenings, weekends, and campus holiday breaks as necessary.
