Job Overview We are seeking enthusiastic and responsible Camp Counselors to serve as an on-Camp Counselor and possibly a Lancaster Transportation Chaperones. In this vital role, you will serve as a role model for and provide supervision to campers ranging from 6-15 years old during day camp hours, while on camp and during transportation. You will ensure the safe and enjoyable experience for our campers, supporting their well-being and helping create a positive camp environment. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with children, promote their growth, and be part of a dynamic team dedicated to community service. Responsibilities Provide direct supervision to all campers in assigned group Supervise children during transportation to and from camp activities, ensuring safety at all times Assist with loading and unloading campers, verifying attendance and proper conduct Actively participate in various program areas, co-counselor for a cabin and assist in activities. Maintain a friendly, engaging demeanor to foster a welcoming atmosphere for children of diverse backgrounds Responsible for leading children to/from activities, leading games and challenges, and assisting in any specialty activities Enforce safety protocols and behavior management policies throughout day camp hours and transit Communicate effectively with camp staff, parents, and emergency personnel as needed Support campers' needs by providing basic first aid when necessary and responding promptly to any incidents Uphold camp rules and promote positive behavior on camp and during transportation
Skills/Qualifications:
Ability to provide care, compassion and a creative program to weekly campers Ability to assist and support specialized areas. Understand the basics of the program that is being led. The ability to be adaptable and mindful of the children in each group. Previous experience working with elementary, middle school and early high school aged children Ability to lift and carry 40 pounds Ability to travel over rough and rocky ground Ability to see, hear, and supervise all campers in the group Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community Minimum 18 years of age. High school diploma and one year of college preferred. Camping experience preferred Experience working with children in educational or recreational settings Knowledge of first aid procedures and certification required or willing to be trained Ability to manage behavior effectively and promote safety during transport Excellent communication skills for collaborating with team members and families Demonstrated patience, responsibility, and enthusiasm for working with young people in a camp environment.
