Job Overview Hiring now! Join the Borough of Dormont for an exciting and enriching summer experience as Summer Camp Counselor. As a counselor, you will develop, and polish grow your skills working with children aged 5-11 all while being a part of an exciting environment. The Borough of Dormont is seeking well qualified applicants for the position of Summer Camp Counselor at Dormont Summer Camp. This 9-week camp will run from June 8, 2026 - August 7, 2026. We serve children 5-11 years old and provides a memorable experience for both campers and staff. Responsibilities Supervise and engage children in a variety of camp activities including sports, arts and crafts, and outdoor adventures Ensure the safety and well-being of all campers by implementing proper behavior management techniques and adhering to safety protocols Lead by example in promoting positive social interactions, teamwork, and respect among campers Must have, or be eligible to obtain, Act 33, Act 34 and FBI clearances Assist with daily camp routines such as lunch, transitions between activities, and crafts Foster an inclusive environment that encourages personal growth, creativity, and fun Experience Must be at least 18 years of age Prior experience working with children or in childcare settings such as daycare, schools, or camp programs is highly preferred Knowledge of classroom management techniques and childhood development principles Demonstrated ability to lead activities involving sports, art, or other extracurricular programs Strong communication skills with the ability to connect positively with children, parents, and team members
Pay:
$15.00 - $16.00 per hour
