Job Description
Overview:
Join our team as a Summer Camp Counselor and be part of an exciting and enriching program designed to inspire and empower children aged 6 to 12. Our camp offers a dynamic blend of activities, workshops, and field trips aimed at fostering creativity, learning, and fun. As a counselor, you will play a vital role in creating a safe, supportive, and engaging environment where campers can explore, discover, and thrive.Responsibilities:
Supervise and engage with campers aged 6 to 12 throughout daily activities, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times. Facilitate structured and spontaneous activities, including arts and crafts, sports, games, and educational workshops, that cater to various interests and abilities. Assist in implementation of weekly field trips, providing guidance, supervision, and encouragement to campers during outings. Foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere where campers feel valued, respected, and supported in their personal and social development. Collaborate with fellow counselors and camp leadership to coordinate schedules, organize activities, and address any concerns or issues that arise. Serve as a role model for campers, demonstrating enthusiasm, creativity, and a commitment to learning and growth. Maintain a clean and organized camp environment, including activity areas, equipment, and supplies. Adhere to camp policies and procedures, including safety protocols, emergency procedures, and behavior management guidelines. Implement Discipline withDignity Qualifications:
Previous experience working with children in a camp, school, daycare, or similar setting preferred. Enthusiasm for working with children and a genuine interest in their development and well-being. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with campers, parents/guardians, and colleagues. Ability to engage and motivate children in a variety of activities and settings. Patience, flexibility, and a positive attitude, especially in challenging or fast-paced situations. CPR/First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain certification prior to camp start date). High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework or degree in education, recreation, child development, or related field a plus.Schedule:
Camp runs Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM.Benefits:
