Job Description

Job Summary Join our vibrant team as a Summer Camp Counselor at Bloom Waldessori Play Space, a Montessori and Waldorf inspired play space where we celebrate the individuality of each child through whimsical, gentle play based learning experiences. We are looking for someone who has the enthusiasm and dedication to inspire children to explore, learn, and grow through engaging activities and meaningful interactions. In this dynamic role, you will create a safe, inclusive, and fun environment for preschool to younger school age children (ages 3-8), fostering their development while ensuring their well-being. Your energy and leadership will help make each camper's summer unforgettable, filled with adventure, friendship, and discovery. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your skills in childcare, education, and leadership within a supportive community setting. Responsibilities Supervise and engage children during camp activities, ensuring a safe and positive environment at all times Lead group games, arts and crafts, sensory and creative hands-on activities. Assist with daily routines such as meal times, rest periods, and transitions between activities Provide basic first aid when necessary and communicate any health or safety concerns to supervisors promptly Foster a welcoming atmosphere that encourages inclusion, kindness, and personal growth among campers Be a self-starter with a creative mindset to create supplemental activities and engagement along with pre-chosen materials Requirements HS Diploma and minimum 2 years of experience working with children in a supervisory or recreational setting. Prior experience working with children in settings such as daycare, babysitting, tutoring, or camp environments is highly desirable Knowledge of childhood development principles and early childhood education practices Strong classroom management skills to guide behavior positively and effectively All clearances and certification in pediatric first aid and CPR (or ability to obtain prior to start) to ensure safety during all activities Ability to work collaboratively with team members, parents, and children from diverse backgrounds Enthusiasm for wide range of activities, including arts and crafts, creative arts, physical team games, or similar interests that can enhance camp programming Excellent communication skills with the ability to motivate and connect with children while maintaining professionalism This role is perfect for energetic individuals passionate about working with children and eager to make a positive impact during the summer months. Schedule options are Tuesday and Thursday or Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:30am-3:30pm. Additional hours may be available but this is the current schedule needed.
