Summer Camp Counselor with a Commitment to Ride the Camp Bus from Vineland Sunrise Day Camp-Greater Philly Wynnewood, PA Job Details Temporary | Full-time | Contract $1,500 - $2,200 a month 1 day ago Qualifications Camp Full Job Description Sunrise Day Camp, for children ages 3 - 16, is the only dedicated full summer day camp in the world for children with cancer and their siblings. It is a camp designed to meet the emotional, social, recreational, and physical needs of these children while allowing them to enjoy the comforts and safety of their own homes at night. Sunrise Day Camp offers a full, multi-week summer activity program plus year-round camp-like programs. Additionally, our in-hospital program Sunrise On Wheels allows children to experience "camp" in the hospital by providing activities for those who are awaiting treatment. This position requires the camp counselor to ride the bus and supervise children to and from camp each day. The bus will be at forest grove park in Vineland, New Jersey each morning pick up children along the route and return them to the same stops in the afternoon. The rest of the day will be spent enjoying your role as a camp counselor. If you do not have transportation to the first stop we will uber you to the initial stop each day and home from the bus at the end of the day Best of all, Sunrise Day Camp is offered free of charge to all children being treated for cancer and their siblings on a non-sectarian basis. By raising the needed funds from outside sources instead of charging the parents, we can help to alleviate some of the costs, and the related stress, that parents incur caring for a sick child throughout the year. Children who have received medical clearance from their physicians are welcome to attend. Though 7 weeks of camp programming is offered, children may register and attend any and every day they feel well enough to do so. Staff Position Sunrise Day Camp is actively hiring individuals to serve as Camp Counselors. We are looking for individuals who are mature, responsible, energetic, creative, and excited to make a tremendous impact in the lives of our children. This individual must be able to keep children engaged and entertained along with bringing a positive attitude. Camp will run from June 30th to August 5th with mandatory training sessions throughout June. All staff must be at least 16 years old. Our staff works with children between the ages of 3 and 16 for up to seven and a half weeks. Staff positions commonly involve being with children for the full length of the camp day, from camper arrival at 9:30 AM until 3:45 PM. Because our camper population may have greater emotional and physical needs, and because staff stays in close proximity with the campers, the experience is demanding. It is critical that staff members are attentive to children, their individual needs and concerns, and demonstrate a willingness to do more than their share.
