Job Description

Summary:
Federal Hill House is seeking summer camp counselors in full and part time positions to join our team as soon as possible. We are also seeking staff members who can drive our agency van for field trips on occasion (can double as a counselor). Summer Camp Counselors work with elementary age students in a theme-based camp environment in Providence. They will develop positive relationships; lead enrichment programming; and offer chaperone field trips. They will report to the site coordinator.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintain a safe and clean environment at all times Uphold all program / agency policies and procedures Comply with all childcare licensing regulations Develop positive, productive relationships with children, parents and caregivers Create positive, productive program environment utilizing positive and preventative classroom management techniques and responding to the developmental needs of children Support breakfast, lunch and afternoon snacks, ensuring compliance with menu and meal protocols Assist in chaperoning students during field trips days and pool days Participate in on-boarding training and orientation as well as on-going professional development Participate in weekly staff meetings and common planning time Maintain effective interaction with colleagues Communicate concerns to supervisor in a timely manner Attend agency meetings / trainings as requested Additional duties as assigned To be considered as a driver, an applicant must be 25 years or older, have a clean driving record, and be able to obtain a Chauffer's License (a trip to the DMV).
Hours & Pay:
Core hours for this position are Monday-Friday between the hours of 7am-5:30pm. Pay begins at $17.50/hour; Drivers and lead counselors can earn a higher rate of pay.
Requirements:
At least 18 years of age High School Diploma required. Experience working with school age children Excellent relationship building skills Positive group management skills Love for children and belief that all children have the ability to thrive in a supportive, structured environment Ability to communicate effectively with families Reliability and professionalism Commitment to ongoing professional development Ability to clear all required background checks Spanish speaking a plus Federal Hill House is committed to its diverse environment and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
