Promoting independent living, Imagine Art's model empowers clients to learn valuable daily living skills (cooking, cleaning, managing the home and attendant care supports) in an effort to increase opportunities for independence. We are searching for highly responsible individuals with strong values, excellent communication skills and a passion to work with individuals living with IDD
- intellectual developmental disabilities.
We seek on Overnight Weekend staff to serve a women's supervised living home in east Austin. Each weekend pays a flat rate of $600. The staff arrives Friday at 10 PM and stays at the house through Monday at 10 AM. Sleeping accommodations are provided for the overnight staff who will sleep at the home Friday, Saturday and Sunday night.
Activities and tasks will include:
7 AM wake up on Saturday to make breakfast and plans for the day; facilitate an outing (bookstore, the mall, bowling, the park, the YMCA, the pool, etc); dispense medications in the AM and PM; prepare lunch and dinner and engage the residents in keeping up with their chores (straighten room, doing a load of laundry), engage residents in helping out in the kitchen (prepping meals, loading dishes). The staff works with all 3 residents to engage in decision making for the meal and activities and promotes independent living skills training that empowers the residents to manage their rooms, schedules and plans. The staff is expected to engage residents in special activities that might include a neighborhood walk, putting together a puzzle, bead making or watching a movie together. Medication and special needs training will be provided by a Registered RN. Opportunity to meet the residents, see the house and shadow a staff will be made available prior to committment. Transportation is required for outings. Imagine Art does not offer a company vehicle, but does pay milage. Experience in attendant care and medication management is preferred. Training will be provided. Responsibilities Encourage daily routines of self care and independent living (chores, prompts for bathing and personal hygiene). Encourage community engagement, programming or outings. Support in preparing healthy meals and help in cleaning the kitchen. Support medication management or other duties delegated by an RN Naturally engage in activities of daily life (outings, neighborhood walks, or visits to the park or movies) Document hours using an online provider portal Communicate effectively to the team to share information.
