$43,888 - $46,888
SUMMARY:
The Coordinator of Outdoor Adventure plans, organizes, directs, and manages the day-to-day activities and long term strategy for a comprehensive outdoor adventure program at East Texas A&M University. This includes supervision of one graduate assistant, part-time employees, facility management, and program development. Facilities include a climbing wall, challenge course and disc golf course. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead, develop, implement, and evaluate outdoor recreation activities including workshops, events, and outdoor trips programs, ensuring Campus Rec policies are being followed Manage day-to-day operations and management of an indoor climbing facility Recruit, hire, train, schedule, evaluate, and develop all outdoor student staff Oversee one outdoor adventure graduate assistant. Facilitate and maintain the Outdoor Adventure Challenge Course including both high and low elements as well as games and initiatives designed to promote teamwork, leadership, and communication within a team Directly manages the trips program and outdoor adventure events and workshops. Oversees the maintenance and upkeep of the disc golf course. Maintain and operate a fully equipped gear rental program, including gear management, point of sale systems, maintenance, and monthly gear inspection Develop and implement long-term and short-term Outdoor Adventure program goals Establishes and oversees risk management policies for all outdoor programs. Oversees budget, purchases, inventory, and maintenance of equipment used to run the Outdoor Adventure Program Must be able to obtain within the first 6 months of employment a
CPR/AED/FA
Instructor certification, as provided by Campus Recreation. Must be able to obtain within the first 6 months of employment a Wilderness First Aid certification, as provided by Campus Recreation. Must be able to obtain within the first 6 months of employment a AMGA Climbing Wall Instructor Certification, as provided by Campus Recreation. Must be able to obtain within the first 12 months of employment a Association for Challenge Course Technology (ACCT) Level 1 Certification, as provided by Campus Recreation.
GENERAL DEPARTMENT DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES

Works early morning, night and weekend hours as needed May temporarily perform other duties assigned to maintain programs This job description shall include, but is not necessarily limited to, the above duties.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience (ex: high school diploma and four years of experience or Associates and two years of experience may substitute degree).
Experience/ Knowledge/ Skills:
One year of combined, related experience in outdoor adventure programing in a collegiate, community, or private setting (part-time work, graduate assistantships, and internships are acceptable and counted as half-time experience). Officiated a minimum of one sport at the intramural sports, high school, or collegiate level Ability to: Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Physical Requirements :
Ability to move around on uneven terrain, ability to work in outdoor weather conditions, ability to ascend, descend, and traverse climbing walls and challenge course, ability to lead, organize, and oversee outdoor trips
PREFERRED EDUCATION / SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE
Graduate assistantship or certifications in outdoor related field
