Job Description

Under general supervision of the Assistant Parks & Recreation Director, the Recreation Specialist is responsible for coordinating special events, and facility use operations in the John Wm. Klein Room at Marktplatz, including but not limited to, marketing and advertising, facilitating tours, maintaining a rental calendar, updating rental forms and instructions, taking payments, enforcing rules, and scheduling janitorial services; and assisting with a variety of city wide parks and recreation special events and programs, and performing a variety of technical tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility.
Qualifications:
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Acts as Special Events Coordinator in their absence Plans and coordinates new and existing programs and events by researching, planning, marketing, monitoring and evaluating program content and attendance Evaluate facility operations; establish and administer operating policies and procedures for facility and/or programs; recommend improvements and modifications; prepare various reports on operations and activities including but not limited to: facility use, participation numbers, safety reports, and accident reports Assist the Director and Assistant Director with the collection of revenue, budget reporting, coding receipts and paying invoices Monitor splashpad chemicals to ensure health and safety standards are maintained and chemical records and reports are documented in accordance with city, state and national standards as related to public aquatic facilities Plan and coordinate promotional materials and community outreach including advertising, news releases, and public service announcements for events and activities with city public information officer Coordinates and manages special events held at Marktplatz with anticipated attendance of fewer than 300 participants and/or private events, ensuring compliance with the City s policies, ordinances, procedures and operational requirements Oversee, perform, or assign proper maintenance and safety inspections of facility and equipment to reduce hazards and to provide maximum safety to patrons; maintain adequate inventory and upkeep of equipment used in the operation of assigned programs; and daily inventory of all emergency equipment and office supplies Inspect Parks and Recreation AEDS and document deficiencies on a monthly basis Assist with a variety of city-wide Parks and Recreation special events and programs Monitor special events on the weekends to ensure compliance with city policies Serve on internal and external committees and boards as requested Responds positively to questions or concerns during daily interactions with city citizens and tourists Must be able to work Friday through Sunday, four (4), 10-hour days Must be able to work other days or holidays as rentals and special events require Performs related work as assigned and/or required Perform other related duties as assigned
