JOB DESCRIPTION
This is a Summer Band Camp Counselor position responsible for the supervision of band campers. Works under moderate supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Reports to the Assistant and Head Summer Band Camp Counselors.
QUALIFICATIONS
The minimum education required for admittance as a student at Stephen F. Austin State University. No direct experience is required. Training and instruction will be provided. Must be or have been involved in the SFA Bands program.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Provides supervision and support to campers, ensuring a safe, structured, and positive camp environment. Maintains professional communication with campers and staff, addresses behavioral or safety concerns appropriately, and supports constructive group dynamics. Assists Band Directors and camp staff with the coordination and facilitation of rehearsals, activities, and daily camp operations.

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation. Skill in critical thinking and decision-making, including evaluating options and exercising sound judgment. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in both speaking and writing. Ability to maintain professionalism and composure in stressful, difficult, or emergency situations. Ability to analyze problems, organize information, and develop practical solutions. Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines under pressure. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a complex organization. Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and integrity
SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS TO APPLICANT
Applicants will be required to complete Minor Training and a background check in Ideal-Logic.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT A
student must be enrolled in six or more semester hours to be eligible for student employment during the fall or spring semesters. To be eligible for student employment during the summer, a student must be enrolled in three or more semester hours or be registered for courses in the upcoming fall semester. Student assistants may not hold any other type of position such as a graduate assistantship or temporary casual employment at the same time that they are employed as a student assistant.
